To escape the brutal New York winter Takuya Duncan traveled to bustling city of Bangkok and then South for some R & R to the luxurious Six Senses Yao Noi.
When visiting Bangkok we highly recommend staying at The Sukhothai Bangkok, a tranquil super chic oasis with a modern Thai sensibility in the heart of the city.
While in Bangkok, ensure to visit some of Takuya Duncan's favorite places as all have their own sensory experiences:
- The Grand Palace
- China Town - If you like classic Chinese food as we do, dine at low-key, Tan Jai Yoo, one of Bangkok's oldest Chinese restuarants
- Vertigo Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel for sunset drinks
- Sala Rattanakosin Restaurant - Chao Phraya River front dining with spectacular Wat Arun temple views
If you are fortunate enough to venture south to the islands, we highly recommend a stay at the Six Senses Yao Noi, located on an Island in the Andaman Sea about 45 minutes boat ride from Phuket, you wont be disappointed. The private hilltop tropical retreat is a hard act to beat; luxurious pool villas, incredible views and exceptional service this is by far one of the worlds top resort destinations. The Six Senses brand is all about integrated wellness, sustainability in harmony with nature and creating memorable experiences, they definitely delivered on all three. Bucket list, check!
Getting to Thailand: since there are no non-stop flights from NYC we chose Etihad Airways in its A380 Airbus aircraft thru Abu Dhabi - it was our first time flying Etihad and highly recommend with its terrific service, roomy biz class space with large flat beds and not to mention one of favorite perks an in-flight bar area all made for a great travel experience.
Below are some additional photos that capture the scenic trip. Of course, some of our favorite Takuya Duncan pieces got to partake in the journey.
